Beginner’s Guide to 3D Beading
A practical starting point for making a small three-dimensional bead figure.
Gather a small tool kit
Start with beads of one consistent size, wire or line that passes through each bead at least twice, flush cutters, and a shallow tray. Use the exact sizes listed in your chosen pattern because changing bead size changes the finished dimensions.
Read the whole pattern first
Find the materials list, finished size, diagram key, starting point, and assembly sequence before cutting wire. Mark repeated rows and any places where the path crosses through an earlier bead.
Build with even tension
Pull each section snug enough to hold its shape without crushing beads or kinking wire. Compare both sides after every few rows. Correcting one loose row early is easier than rebuilding the finished figure.
Finish and check
Tuck or trim ends exactly as the pattern directs. Check for sharp ends, loose beads, and symmetry. Beaded figures contain small parts and should be kept away from young children.
