How to Choose Beads and Wire for 3D Figures
Use the pattern’s measurements to select compatible materials.
Match the bead size
A pattern written for 6 mm beads will produce a different shape when made with 4 mm or 8 mm beads. Consistent bead diameter helps rows align.
Check the bead holes
The wire must pass through the narrowest bead hole as many times as the diagram requires. Test several beads from the packet because hole sizes can vary.
Choose workable wire
Use the gauge specified by the designer. The wire should bend cleanly, hold the structure, and pass through repeated joins without forcing the bead.
Make a short sample
Build two or three rows before committing to the full project. The sample reveals whether the beads sit evenly and whether the wire is too soft, stiff, or thick.
